Westwood Hills sits at the northwest corner of Westwood, south of Sunset Blvd between Veteran Ave and Sepulveda Blvd. The community lies directly south of Bel Air and east of the UCLA campus. The inception of the University in the late 1920s was a catalyst for development of the neighborhood. Westwood Hills is ideally situated for commuters, with immediate access to the 405 Freeway facilitating travel throughout West L.A. and the San Fernando Valley. Residents enjoy an enviable Westside location, central to Westwood Village, Brentwood, and the Wilshire Corridor and mere minutes from Century City and Beverly Hills.
Redevelopment in Westwood Hills has been fairly limited as compared to other nearby communities. While many homes have been renovated and remodeled over the years, much of the prewar architecture remains intact. The neighborhood exudes a cohesive sense of classic elegance. Streets slope gently to the north and are flanked by modest and generally well manicured front lawns. Views are somewhat limited, although a number of properties do boast sight lines of the surrounding city and mountains, particularly from second stories. Approximately one third of homes have pools.
Community interests are represented by the Westwood Hills Property Owners Association (WHPOA). The voluntary association does not assess annual dues and seeks to maintain quality of life in the neighborhood. For more information on the WHPOA please visit their website.
