The Thurston Area comprises the southwest corner of Bel Air, situated north of Sunset Blvd just east of Sepulveda Blvd and the 405 Freeway. Similar to the Bentley Area, this lower Bel Air neighborhood is self contained with only one point of entry. Residents enjoy relative peace and quiet thanks to the absence of through traffic traversing the community.
The Thurston Area offers a mix of one and two story mid century homes. Redevelopment has been surprisingly limited, although many residences have been partially or entirely remodeled in recent years. Low lying geography limits views in much of the neighborhood, but properties with sight lines of the city, Getty Center, and surrounding hills can be found, particularly along the upper portion of Thurston Circle.
The neighborhood is an ideal location for commuters. Immediate proximity to Sunset Blvd and the 405 Freeway provides easy access to the San Fernando Valley and all of West L.A.. Abundant retail and dining options in both Brentwood and Westwood Villages are mere minutes away.
